The Michaelmas term concert is the first for Freddie Meyers as conductor of the Oxford University Sinfonietta. He opens the programme with Haydn’s Symphony no. 31, ‘Hornsignal’, in which the horn section makes up twenty percent of the orchestra. The concert also features violinist Emma Lisney, winner of the 2016 Oxfordshire Concerto Competition, who will perform Barber’s vibrant Violin Concerto, before the ensemble closes the concert with the playful yet beautiful Sinfonietta by Francis Poulenc.
