Kentaro Machida is a Music student and Organ Scholar at Merton College, Oxford, accompanying the college’s renowned mixed-voice choir. Before studying at Oxford, he held the Organ Scholarship at Sherborne School and Abbey where he helped to run the music department and train the choirs as well as fulfilling his duties with the Abbey choir. He was also the student conductor of the Oxford Studio Orchestra for three seasons and won second prize in the Abingdon Music Festival ‘Maestro’ competition in 2017.
Kentaro has given recitals both in the UK and abroad, most notably in Arezzo Cathedral, Italy, as part of the Arezzo Organ Festival. He is in demand as an accompanist and teacher in and around the Oxfordshire area and holds an LTCL diploma on the piano. He studied French horn whilst at school, playing principal horn for Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra in his last year. He currently studies conducting with Roland Melia, and organ with Christian Wilson.
